My teaser:
"Across fields, Simonton reports that the most prolific people not only have the highest originality; they also generate their most original output during the periods in which they produce the largest volume. Between the ages of thirty and thirty-five, Edison pioneered the lightbulb, the phonograph, and the carbon telephone."I think this is pretty interesting, because we (or at least I), used to think of geniuses taking time to produce their work. But the chapter does explain why the claim is true (or at the very least, legitimate)
What is your teaser?
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Yes... I've noticed that musicians, scientists and authors often have a 'golden period' where they are not only at their most prolific, they also produce their best work. Obviously that is a huge generalisation, but it does seem to play out surprisingly often. The tragedy must be when that occurs very early on in someone's life... This is my teaser... https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/07/12/teaser-tuesday-12th-july-2016/
ReplyDeleteI read very little nonfiction but this sounds fascinating. My teaser this week comes from The Wild Ways by Tanya Huff which has been sitting on TBR Mountain forever. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI don't read enough non fiction. Sounds interesting to me:)
